Earthquake in Ontario?

So I guess I really suck at posting every day.
Anyway, apparently there's all this HubBub and Hooha about there being an earthquake in Quebec/Ottawa/Wherever. My friends are all saying they "felt" the quake, and it was so scary. Well seeing as all my friends live in Brantford (another hour outside of Toronto for those of you who don't know Ontario well), and the quake was only rated as a 5.5, I highly doubt they felt anything but an aftershock. According to those in Ottawa: "[...] the whole building started to shake including the lights and the ceiling vibrated."
I don't understand how we have a "pussy" quake and everyone is flipping about it. Sure its cool- and surprisingly rare in Ontario, but seriously? There is really NO damage apart from objects falling off shelves (which happens all the time if you own a cat). Places all across the world get their asses whooped by natural disasters every day. BUT NOOO WE ONLY CARE ABOUT OURSELVES. Not saying that Canada never helps out with anything, but really now, a 5.5 earthquake hits, and thats all we're going to talk about for the next 3 years. Calm down, it could've been a lot worse.

I'm also curious about this new HST bullshit.
Frankly, I honestly don't really care that we're paying a larger lump sum of tax. I like my free health care enough that unless the tax is more than the item itself, I don't care.
What I don't understand is this:
(As as much as those will call me "racist" or other unsuitable names, I'm still going to bring it up)
Why don't the Native Americans have to pay any of it. I know they were fighting against HST, but I assumed the Government would say: Look, here's your 5% off (ontario) and continue on..
But apparently they actually WON and now don't have to pay any sort of tax at all.
This is where I start to sound Racist.
Personally, if they don't want to pay tax, that's fine with me. BUT:
Don't use our health care
Don't use our money for free post secondary
If you aren't paying any money into it- you shouldn't get to use the service. My best friend is aboriginal- Mohawk Six Nations- and first year of University was hell for me trying to pay. He of course, didn't worry about a thing.
I understand that yes- the natives were treated very poorly, and I am sorry for the way people have/and do treat them. But again, I could be mistaken, but as far as I know the Jews don't get anything for nearly being wiped out by the holocaust, and the blacks don't get any compensation for being slaves, India doesn't get shit from Britan... the list goes on and on.
Lots of bad choices were made by a lot of bad people. And I am seriously sorry for those who have been victims of this.
My mother is Mexican, they too have had land/wealth stolen from them, but you don't see me asking for Texas back.
Say what you will- call me what you want. I have nothing against Aboriginals, as I mentioned, my best friend is Mohawk, as are many of my other friends. I actually have conversations/debates with them all the time regarding tax. None of them are personally offened- and you shouldn't be either. If I had a tax card- you can bet I would use it (not for anything less than 100 though, its just not worth it). If the government gave me a free run of our university and our health care- sure I would be in heaven. It's the Government that's being stupid. It just means that in a year they're going to have to up the tax again because 50% of us aren't paying anything at all.
